In the shadows of the past

In the shadows of the past, tough stuff remains,

Surviving the scars of abuse survivor’s plight,

Fear and loneliness, the heart’s heavy chains.

Alone in the darkness, isolation stains,

Innocence lost in the dead of night,

In the shadows of the past, tough stuff remains.

The cost of the harm, the soul’s deep strains,

Childhood trauma, a never-ending fight,

Fear and loneliness, the heart’s heavy chains.

But through it all, a glimmer of hope sustains,

Healing begins to shed its light,

In the shadows of the past, tough stuff remains.

From the depths of despair, a new life gains,

A survivor’s spirit takes flight,

Fear and loneliness, the heart’s heavy chains.

Through the pain and tears, the heart reclaims,

The journey towards healing, shining bright,

In the shadows of the past, tough stuff remains,

Fear and loneliness, the heart’s heavy chains.
