A poetry prompt: Black dog

The lovely bee over at the bee writes, has challenged us to come up with a poem for the prompt, black dog.

Heres my attempt.

thoughts they linger
will they ever subside
the black dog
he hides?
and sometimes
he comes out
shows his ugly face
spews his ugly venum
and thoughts
and on days when that happens
All I want to do
Is curl up into a tiny ball
Look invisible
And say
Go away, black dog, go away!

Carol Annes Poetry Challenge for The Bee

Hello everybody, so lovely to be part of this great blog. I am very excited especially about this project that Carol Anne and I are starting today:

Once a week Carol Anne will give me a prompt and I will write a poem to it.

I love writing poetry and don’t do it nearly enough. That is why this project is so wonderful.

This week Carol Anne challenged me to write about “heal and recovery” and that is quite curious because I wrote a poem about my feelings as an abused child (trigger warning) for the German poetry project I take part in every November. You can find it here.

Just
a beacon
Far away
Then
When
His steps on the stairs
Tormented us

Hope and healing
Healing and hope

Far away
These beacons then.

And even though
We slip back
Into these
… moments

Now
I light
These beacons
Every day!

Feel free to write your own poem about “Heal and recovery”. Let us know about it and we come and visit your post. Have fun and thanks for reading.

My ideal home? Now thats a hard one!
Why? Because well, I dont really kknow what I’d choose if there was no limit to where I could live!
I guess I’d like a house, with lots of bedrooms, a big playroom for the kids, a big garden for nitro, a fitted kitchen, a pool, a water fountain or a pond in the garden, a big living room open plan, a bathroom with a walk in shower.
Now I do have a walk in shower where I am living, Im not living in a house though, I am living in a bungalow, with two bedrooms, no pool, no fitted kitchen. My garden is small, and does not have a pond in it.
But I am happy where I am living now. I like it, my neighbours are nice. Thats what counts.
Material posessions dont really matter to me. As long as I have nice neighbours who care, who are there if I need them, that makes me happy.

What is in my prayer closet

Tonight I am praying hard. Praying to get through the night in one piece. I am praying for no memories, no triggers, no interrupted sleep due to having nightmares, I am praying for peace, quiet, a good sleep, and happiness. That is what is in my prayer closet tonight.
What is in yours?
