A Stark reality

She sits in a corner

Of a bare room

Huddled up her legs and arms bent up to her chest

She cries silent tears

For who cares?

Who can hear her silent weeping

Who will come to help her now?

Her tear stained face

Turns upwards, to the sky

God, she whispers

Can you hear me?

Suddenly there are loud footsteps

She swallows the lump in her throat

She knows she is in danger

He is coming for her

She squeezes her eyes shut

A single tear escapes

She must be brave

She mustn’t cry

Her heart pounds in her chest

She looks at the wall, willing her body to work for her

1, 2, 3, the door to the room opens

Will this be the end?
