Like the setting sun

In the garden of life, time ticks away

Each moment a delicate petal, fading

Like a flower whose beauty will soon expire

We grasp at memories, fleeting and fragile

Trying to hold onto what will inevitably fade

But in the end, all must come to an end

Like the setting sun, sinking below the horizon

Leaving us to ponder the passage of time.

Written in response to Sammy Cox’s weekend writing prompt. This week the challenge is to write a piece of prose or poetry in 66 words, using the word expire.
