So last night, around 10 Pm mom’s heart started beating very fast again. She had been watching tv, and all of a sudden her heart began to pound. She said she was leaning forward, and that was giving her a little bit of relief, but when she stood up to go to the bedroom she could barely breathe.
She woke my dad, and told him she needed to get an ambulance, but my dad panicked and he said he couldnt call the ambulance, basically, he cant really deal with medical crises. He’s not good at giving the details to the phone operator etc.
Anyway, mom rang my sister, and she phoned the ambulance, which took 40 minutes to get to my mom. When they got there, they took her to the hospital.
She spent the night there, having tests, she got blood work done, an x-ray of her chest, an EKG, and other tests on her heart.
She improved as the night wore on, and by this morning she felt a lot better. The doctor came to talk to her and she said her heart looked ok, but that the quickening of her heart is down to the cardiomyopathy she has, and the COPD, its all part of her condition. The doctor cant guarantee that it won’t keep happening to her. She said she’d refer her back to cardiology, to get another echocardiogram done, and to see the heart specialist.
She allowed her to go home. She’s back home now, but she’s exhausted, as she didnt sleep at all last night. She is going to rest for a while this afternoon. I told her to put her phone on silent, so she can sleep a little bit.
I didnt sleep much last night either, I was too worried, but I stayed in bed, I decided not to get up and eventually I did sleep for a couple of hours.
I’mm relieved she’s home now, and I told her she needs to take it easy for the weekend, we were supposed to go christmas shopping on Saturday, but I told her we should leave it until next weekend, so that is what we’ll do.
