My parents dog Charlie turned 5 today.
He’s being spoiled! He’s gotten lots of treats.
Lots of snuggles and scratches behind his ears.
He knows he’s the star today too!
When the guy who was delivering my meds came to the door, you should’ve heard Charlie tearing the house down!
He got all excited and was barking like a maniac.
Here is a poem I wrote for our sweet Charlie.
Happy 5th Birthday, Charlie
Charlie, bright as morning sun,
A streak of black-and-white in run,
With clever eyes that always know
Which way the wind and wonders go.
You herd our hearts the way you play—
With purpose, joy, and leaps of day;
A whirlwind with a gentle core,
A friend we couldn’t love more.
Five years young, still wild and free,
A masterpiece of loyalty.
May fields be wide, may skies be clear,
And treats be plenty all this year.
So here’s to you—our faithful guide,
Our shadow, mischief-maker, pride.
Happy birthday, sweet and sly,
Charlie, brightest of the sky.
