Mish is our host, and she has challenged us to write a poem based on a line from a horror movie!
I chose…
“We all go a little mad sometimes” – Norman Bates, Psycho (1960)
We all go a little mad sometimes,
When clouds wear crowns and bells can chime,
When logic naps and laughter reigns—
Oh, how the sunshine loves our brains!
We dance with socks that don’t quite match,
Sing songs with doors that fail to latch,
We spill the tea, we miss the cues—
But joy slips in when we refuse.
A little madness greases gears,
It oils the rust of grown-up fears,
It paints the gray with tangerine,
And makes the dull world bright and keen.
So twirl your doubts and hum off-key,
Let reason rest, let wonder be—
For life’s too short for tidy rhymes,
And we all go a little mad sometimes. 🌈🌀
