It was already raining when I missed the bus. I stood at the stop, drenched, watching its red taillights disappear around the corner. I was annoyed. My umbrella had snapped inside out ten minutes earlier, my coffee had spilled on my sleeve, and now I was late for work—again.

When I finally arrived, dripping and cold, I expected my boss to give me that look. Instead, she smiled. “You’re just in time,” she said, pointing to a tray of pastries. “I brought extras today.”

I blinked. Maybe the day wasn’t a total disaster after all. I took a croissant, sat down at my desk, and decided that tomorrow, I’d leave ten minutes earlier—and buy a new umbrella.

RDP Friday! Annoy!

What a beautifully relatable slice of life! This is a perfect reminder that even the most frustrating mornings, the ones that feel like a series of cascading failures, can be completely turned around by a single, small act of kindness. The shift from the annoyance of the snapped umbrella and spilled coffee to the warmth of the boss’s smile and the unexpected pastry is wonderfully uplifting. It’s a lovely testament to the power of perspective and the importance of not giving up on a day—or on ourselves—too soon. A truly heartening read
