Dora is our host for D-verse poetics Tuesday.
She wants us to write a poem about what October means to us.
Poetics: Tripping the October Light Fantastic | dVerse
Ok, here we go!
❤
October hums in amber light,
A whisper between warmth and frost —
The world exhales in shades of gold,
And I remember all I’ve lost.
The air turns thin, yet somehow full,
With woodsmoke, rain, and something near —
A stillness that invites the soul
To linger longer, listen, hear.
Each leaf that falls feels like release,
A gentle letting go of weight,
A lesson written by the trees:
That endings, too, can radiate.
I walk through days of brittle flame,
Through sunsets brushed in copper hue,
And think of all the selves I’ve been —
October holds them, tender, true.
There’s beauty in the fading light,
In every dusk that softly bleeds;
For what October means to me
Is peace — in all that time concedes.
