A scruffy old canine named Marking,
Spent nights in the alleyway barking.
The neighbors all swore,
They could take it no more,
His chorus was dreadfully jarring.
The racket, a pure annoyance,
Destroyed every ounce of conformance.
While folks tried to sleep,
He’d howl, growl, and peep,
Conducting the night with performance.
A playful and clever limerick that perfectly captures the comedic frustration of a noisy neighborhood nuisance. The rhyme scheme and rhythm are expertly handled, making the tale of Marking both “jarring” and charming.

She’s a pain in the butt. Every time they let her out, she barks……….. one single yap, then another, then another, for about ten minutes. They say it’s because Maya’s in the garden, but she’s not most of the time, and even if she was, she doesn’t usually react. She did a little while ago though, one single GRRRFFF, and we heard a very satisfying squeak from the other side of the fence. The worst is at night. We retire any time from 8.30 to 10pm. They go to bed late, around 11pm to midnight and that damn dog wakes us up.

I’d hate that. There is a yappy dog on my road too. Quite near to my house, the owner just lets him run loose, and he’s very aggressive.
