This week Ang asks us to choose one of two art pieces, and write a poem based around it, incorporating the word blue somewhere in the poem.

Here is my effort.

I feel so blue,
like the quiet sky after rain,
when the clouds refuse to move on
and the light hides in silence.

The air tastes heavy,
like unspoken words pressed
against the back of my throat.
I carry them carefully—
fragile glass I can’t let fall.

Every hour leans on me,
a slow tide pulling farther away.
The world moves,
but I stand still,
rooted in shadows
that no one else can see.

Your poem really moved to me. I especially liked these lines:

    rooted in shadows
that no one else can see.

Very well written. It could go hand in hand with mine. The sadness is evident.

This phrase was especially evocative: like unspoken words pressed
against the back of my throat. Love that.

Carol anne, I find this to be a very moving poem, it’s beautiful and emotionally resonant. Its strength lies in the tangible metaphor – sadness feels true and deeply felt. You’ve given shape to internal melancholy with such  compelling, intimate detail 💙
