I sat with her in the kitchen light,
The clock ticking softly, the world outside bright.
She smiled and asked, "How was your day?"
I let out a sigh, then began to say:

"It was long, Mom, but I’m here now,
What’s been on your mind? Tell me how."
Her eyes twinkled, a gentle glow,
"Just thinking of you, you know how it goes."

I chuckled and said, "I do, indeed."
She poured us tea, fulfilling the need
For comfort in every sip we took,
A peaceful silence, then this look:

"You’ve grown so much, it’s hard to believe,
The little girl I held, now you’ve learned to weave
Your own dreams, your own path so wide,
But know, my love, I’m always by your side."

I smiled, my heart warm with pride,
"Mom, your love’s been my guide,
Through every storm, and every fear,
I know you’re always, always near."

She squeezed my hand, her voice a song,
"Sometimes, my dear, we just belong
In these moments, where words don’t need to race,
It’s enough just to see your face."

We sat in that warmth, no need for haste,
A love that time could never waste.
In her voice, in her eyes, so true,
I found the peace I always knew.

A dialogue of the heart, from the heart, one everyone wants to have with their mother. What a lovely tribute to this shared love, Carol Anne. Great job with the natural conversational pacing in the poem.
