Fandango’s Story Starter #193 – Facts, Fictions & Fantasies

He quickly climbed the trellis and reached the balcony outside of her bedroom. The moon cast silver beams across the nighttime scene, illuminating the garden below, filled with the fragrant blooms of jasmine and lavender. He took a moment to catch his breath, the thrill of climbing mixed with anticipation flaring in his chest.

Leaning against the wrought-iron railing, he glanced inside. There she was, Clara, framed by the soft glow of her bedside lamp, her blonde curls cascading over her shoulders like a waterfall of gold. She was nestled in her pastel-blue comforter, a book in her lap, her brow furrowed in concentration.

His heart raced. It was a foolish idea, sneaking in through her balcony like a character from one of the romance novels she adored. They had shared whispers and stolen moments, but tonight, he wanted to give her something tangible—a memory woven from the fabric of their dreams.

Taking a deep breath, he tapped lightly on the window. She jumped, her eyes wide with surprise, but a smile soon broke across her face. Her reaction gave him courage. He pushed the window open, the hinges creaking softly, and slipped inside.

“Lucas! What are you doing here?” she whispered, a mixture of delight and concern in her voice.

“Shh! I just wanted to see you,” he grinned, “and I thought a romantic entrance would be a good start.”

Clara rolled her eyes playfully. “Romantic entrances are better left for the pages of those novels you keep teasing me about.”

But there was a sparkle in her eyes that told him she loved the attention, the danger of it all. He stepped closer, and the air thickened with unspoken words and shared secrets. “I have a favor to ask,” he said, lowering his voice.

“What is it?”

He pulled a small, wrapped package from his pocket and handed it to her. “Open it,” he urged.

With trembling fingers, she unwrapped it, revealing a delicate silver locket. Inside, it held a tiny photograph—a picture of them taken last summer beneath the boughs of an ancient oak tree, the sun casting halos around their heads.

“Oh, Lucas, it’s beautiful!” Her eyes sparkled with delight as she examined the locket. “But why?”

“Because you mean the world to me, Clara. I know we’re just starting to explore where this is going, but I wanted something to remind you of the memories we’ve already made and the ones still to come.”

Clara’s breath caught in her throat. “You really think we’ll have more memories?”

He took her hands in his, feeling the warmth of her skin against his. “I know we will. But tonight, standing here with you in the moonlight—this is a moment worth remembering, don’t you think?”

Her smile widened, transforming the space between them from a mere balcony to a world all its own. “Absolutely.”

Then, without thinking, he leaned in, capturing her lips with his. It was soft and tentative at first, but as she responded, their hearts synchronized, wild and free, like the wind swirling around them.

When they finally pulled apart, breathless and flushed, Clara laughed softly, her joy radiating like the moonlight. “Now you’ve really turned this into something out of a book.”

He grinned, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Maybe I’ll have to climb the trellis more often.”

“Just as long as it’s to visit me.” She winked playfully.

As they stood there, two hearts intertwined under the vast expanse of the starry sky, Lucas knew that this was just the beginning. It was the first page of their very own story, one they would write together, one adventure at a time.

What a cool story. I really enjoyed reading it. I always hoped something like that would happen to me, but…only in stories and books, apparently. Nicely crafted!
