Writers workshop prompt for august 22nd, something I’ve been putting off

Write about something you’ve been putting off doing?

I’ve been putting off filling out the forms to apply for another guide dog.

I am not sure if I want to apply. I do and I don’t.

I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense.

It would be good to get a dog, but part of me thinks It would be a waste.

I don’t go out much, so I wouldn’t have much work for a guide dog.

So it seems a waste me getting one.

I’m still thinking on it. I still miss my Nitro.

I’d love a new dog, but they are so much work.

I’m not sure I’m ready just yet to take on the responsibility of another dog.

    Good for you, taking time to think about it. There have been times I was very thankful, looking back, to have opted out of a gift or benefit which looked wonderful on the surface but would really have complicated my life very significantly. It’s a lesson which people in general, and especially modern Americans, could learn: bigger isn’t always better.

    Yes, Nitro was such a wonderful friend and guide dog. I think we all miss him, as you do. Dogs are a lot of work to take care of, but they do give so much love.

    A new guide dog would be great, but if not in your plans, what about just a regular dog for companionship. I know you love your parent’s and sister’s dogs. It might be nice to just have one as a pet for yourself. ?
