whispers of the past linger

wounds that refuse to heal

scars that ache with every movement

reminding me of what could have been

but still I adapt

learning to bend and twist

to find new ways to cope

to navigate the broken landscape

recovery is a journey

not a destination

a path paved with shattered glass

and jagged edges

every step forward is a triumph

every breath a victory

over the demons that seek to consume

I heal in fragments

piecing together the shards of my soul

finding strength in the silence

and the quiet darkness

with each passing day

I adapt and cope and rise

from the ashes of my past

into the light of a new dawn
