For this week’s Thursday inspiration prompt, Jim Adam’s has given us the word mind. So I came up with this poem, about losing my mind. Here is my response, enjoy!
❤
In twisted thoughts, I wander wide-eyed and lost,
As fragments of sanity are slowly closed,
The threads of reason snap, like brittle twine,
And in the void, a darkness starts to shine.
My mind, a maze of mirrored halls and doors,
Reflecting every fear, every bitter score,
Echoes of memories, like whispers low,
Haunting me, with secrets I don’t know.
The world outside recedes, a distant haze,
As I descend into the depths of daze,
A kaleidoscope of madness spins around,
Colors blurring, sounds become a muffled sound.
I try to grasp the edges of my mind,
But they slip away, like sand between my fingers left behind,
The silence grows, a deafening roar,
As I lose my grip, and tumble to the floor.
In this labyrinth of my own design,
I’m trapped, with no escape, no clue to align,
The fragments of my thoughts, a jigsaw’s pieces lie,
And I’m left with nothing but a question why.
Will I find my way out of this darkest night?
Or forever roam, lost in this endless fight?
Only time will tell, as I succumb to the void,
And my mind, once sharp, becomes a distant hum.
