In the halls of the boarding school,
Where rules reigned supreme,
Unhappy whispers echoed,
As fear lingered in the air.
Bullying was rampant,
Blind kids targeted,
Lonely and terrified,
They wanted to go home.
But the staff degraded them,
Evil abusers in disguise,
Inflicting child abuse,
And unspeakable acts.
Survivors of abuse,
Coping with long-lasting trauma,
PTSD and dissociative identity disorder,
Their innocence shattered.
The sadness of their stories,
The pain etched in their eyes,
But through it all,
They found strength to survive.
Written in response to D-verse poetics.
