In the halls of the boarding school,

Where rules reigned supreme,

Unhappy whispers echoed,

As fear lingered in the air.

Bullying was rampant,

Blind kids targeted,

Lonely and terrified,

They wanted to go home.

But the staff degraded them,

Evil abusers in disguise,

Inflicting child abuse,

And unspeakable acts.

Survivors of abuse,

Coping with long-lasting trauma,

PTSD and dissociative identity disorder,

Their innocence shattered.

The sadness of their stories,

The pain etched in their eyes,

But through it all,

They found strength to survive.

I’m so glad I didn’t go to boarding school, Carol Anne. Three of my cousins did because their father was in the Forces. When I was young and read Enid Blyton for a short while, boarding school seemed exciting but, of course, I didn’t know about the bullying then. Your poem is written from a dark place from which you have emerged triumphant!

Yes. I read Enid Blyton too when I was a kid, and oh how I wish the schools in her books were like mine! But mine was ahorrific place to be!

A sad memory for sure, Carol Anne. Some buildings hold those negative memories. I am glad you survived in spite of the abuse you experienced.

Me too Dwight! It was terrible! But it is over now, and I am healing slowly but surely one step at a time! X

Children can be cruel but adults like this are multiples of worse. A heartfelt account. Makes me think of the book I just read, Indian Horse.

That sounds like a terrible place, so many bad things have happened in boarding schools.
