Write a quadrille (exactly 44 words, minus the title) using the word twelve.
Twelve hours of rainfall
With no let up
Pelting my window panes
Like the sound of
Shattering glass
I sit here breathing
Deep, shallow and try
To will this rain away
I want to sleep but
Sleep doesn’t want to find me
No not ever!
I love the sound of rain on the window pane, but twelve hours is far too long. I prefer shorter showers.

Carol Anne, so sorry that the rain doesn’t make you sleepy. Twelve hours straight is quite the drenching. Hoping it all soaks into the soil or runs to the lake/stream/river/ocean. Flooding can be a real inconvenience.

Well, it saves me the time of having to water. Down here it is so hot all day that I have water once or twice every day! Luckily the town supplies reclaimed water for watering the plants and lawn. It would be much too expensive as we have to pay for water.

I wish we didn’t. I always worry about it when we have big jobs like when we need to fill our pool! They give you a discount if you get a letter from the pool company saying that you had to empty it to repair it. We did it once and now we have to do it again. The pool is such a big expense but it was here when we bought the house so now we own it!
Well, when we first got here the pool looked fabulous. Little did we know that the paint was peeling and to our dismay we found that the type of pool it is cannot be fixed like a normal pool. Anyhow, we got a new coating on it but I battled for months trying to keep frogs out of it. It was so disgusting. Then the new coating started to peel. Long story short, we finally found a company that knows how to fix this specific pool and they are starting the week of the 24th. After that I am switching it over to salt water to reap the benefits of the better water and to keep out the frogs! I won’t lie though, it is nice to have.
They are called Cuban tree frogs and they are an invasive species to Florida. The state tells people to kill them because they eat all the other frogs, lizards and even snakes. I can’t even begin to tell you how disgusting they are.

I love this poem although I am sorry that the rain disturbs you so – my partner and I lived in Ireland for ten years so I am familiar with that weather, though it is much the same here at the moment. I found a new favourite song to play on my ukulele and sing which fits the bill –
