Question of the day

What in your opinion is the best way to end the stigma surrounding mental illness?

For me its writing, talking, just opening up about it. Telling my story. Making mental health a hot topic. Talking about it with other people.

For me, that is how we will combat stigma.

And you?

I refuse to be ashamed of my disorders and approach the subject quite openly when my my wonky behavior comes into question. Better to be asked what;s up and explain properly than bottle it up like a dirty secret and be labeled difficult or stuck up.
Maybe I am too open with it, but it’;s not likely to change. The minute I allow the shame mongers to silence me is the moment I’ve obviously lost my mind and need the straight jacket spa lockdown treatment.

My entire blog is dedicated to mental health (and addictions) issues and topics. I don’t believe in staying silent about mental health, either. I share my story — regardless if it’s a battle lost or a battle won. I tell it all. I allow a space for others to share their stories as well. I help educate people on mental illness to help put an end to the stigma that surrounds it. I even have a book that is in the publication process regarding my story. I like to also go on the Mental Health Awareness Walks as well as others. For May of 2019, I have started to organize a group of people to attend the Mental Health Awareness Walk with me. I will never, ever stay silent 😀 I love the topic you have chosen!

Me either! Silence leads to stigma! I will not allow myself to be silenced! Mental health is everyones battle, or it could be. Educating people is key!

I think it needs to be spoken about more, to educate those who don’t understand… rather like many situations in this world with stigma attached .

A biological approach. The brain gets sick like any other organ and it’s not a moral defect or weakness of character to have a mental illness. I think this should be emphasized.

Thank you for reading, liking, and commenting to my posts.  It is very appreciated.

I am currently raising money to pay for ongoing psychotherapy. I am a survivor of complex trauma, I have dissociative identity disorder, and complex PTSD.  Therapy can be very expensive.

If you feel like donating to my fund you can donate using pay pal. My pay pal email for donating is:

Don’t feel you have to, there is no pressure, but I’m grateful for any donations that are received.

Again thanks for visiting!
