We brave the streets where lights all glow,
With lists half-made and hearts aglow,
The bells all ring, the carols play,
As winter hums through every way.
The shops are warm, the windows bright,
With tinsel, scarves, and stars of light,
We wander aisles of cheer and cheer,
Chasing smiles we hope are near.
We weigh the gifts with careful thought,
Small tokens love and laughter bought,
A book, a scarf, a wrapped surprise,
Reflections shining in our eyes.
At last we head back through the cold,
With bags of joy and stories told,
For more than gifts we bring back home—
The warmth of love, no longer alone.
