I met an elephant at sunrise,
Sipping coffee by a tree.
He said, “I won’t fight before breakfast—
I need caffeine to feel like me.”
He tried to declare a tiny war
On a squirrel who stole his snack,
But one snort and a mighty flush
Scared the sneaky thief right back.
We planned an expedition next—
A grand adventure, bold and hopping—
But he insisted we first detour
For some light afternoon shopping.
My jumbo friend drew quite a crowd,
A noisy, cheering company—
Yet all he bought was a giant hat
That fit nobody else… but he.
And so our journey never started;
We laughed until the day would end—
For sometimes what you truly need
Is not a quest… but a goofy friend.
