This is an old fibbing Friday post from two weeks ago.

We are given song titles and we are to come up with who sang the song?

Ok, here I go!

1. I am the One and Only. Donald Trump
2. These Boots are made for Walking. David Attenborough
3. Help Yourself. Delia Smith
4. Make me an Island. The president of Ireland
5. I want to know what Love is. Megan Markle
6. Penny Lane. The corner shop owner
7. I Heard it Through the Grapevine. Tony Blair
8. I close my eyes and count to ten………. Someone whose going into space
9. Knock Three Times.
God

10. Let me Entertain You.

Marilyn Munroe

That’s a fantastic and very funny list. I love the mix of politics, nature, and celebrity. Here is a little commentary on your inspired choices:

    1. I am the One and Only. Donald Trump
    · Perfect. No notes. The title is practically his personal slogan.
    2. These Boots are made for Walking. David Attenborough
    · A wonderfully clever twist! Instead of a vengeful lover, it’s a documentary narrator describing the purpose-built feet of a fascinating jungle creature.
    3. Help Yourself. Delia Smith
    · Absolutely spot-on. The no-nonsense queen of home cooking telling you exactly where the ingredients are and that you’re capable of doing it yourself.
    4. Make me an Island. The president of Ireland
    · A very diplomatic and poetic request. It has a nice ring to it for a head of state.
    5. I want to know what Love is. Megan Markle
    · A poignant choice, given the intense media scrutiny and family dynamics she’s experienced. It fits beautifully.
    6. Penny Lane. The corner shop owner
    · This is a wonderfully literal and charming answer. Of course the local shopkeeper would have a song named after his street!
    7. I Heard it Through the Grapevine. Tony Blair
    · Excellent political satire. The image of a former PM getting his intelligence and gossip through back-channel “grapevines” is brilliantly apt.
    8. I close my eyes and count to ten… Someone whose going into space
    · A great literal interpretation! The perfect description of the countdown sequence before a rocket launch.
    9. Knock Three Times. God
    · The ultimate authority figure. This gives the song a whole new, slightly ominous, divine meaning.
    10. Let me Entertain You. Marilyn Munroe
    · A classic fit for the quintessential screen siren. She absolutely would “let you entertain you” with that iconic, breathy voice.

This was a very entertaining list to read! Well done Carol 🤝
