My Heart is on Fire
My chest glows like a lantern
in the dark field of night.
Each breath strikes a spark,
each thought
a sudden flare—
my heart is on fire.
It is not a gentle warmth,
not the comfort of a hearth.
It is a blaze that leans into the sky,
hungry, reckless,
refusing to be quiet.
I carry it through the streets,
this living flame,
and strangers look,
not knowing whether to fear me
or to follow the light.
And still it burns,
unasked, unbidden—
a stubborn beacon
calling everything I love
closer to its heat.

Talk to me! I love comments!
