Hi guys
I need prayers for my dad, if you could all send up prayers I’d be so grateful.
My dad went back to his GP this morning. He has ulcerative colitis, and arthritis, and he recently had blood tests, and he also was recently on antibiotics for a chest infection.
The results of his blood tests show that he is cachectic.
Here is what that means.
"Cachectic" describes a person who is suffering from cachexia, a severe state of physical wasting and weakness.
It’s usually marked by:
- Extreme weight loss (especially muscle mass, not just fat)
- Loss of strength
- General physical debilitation
- Often accompanied by fatigue, loss of appetite, and sometimes inflammation
Cachexia isn’t just “being thin” — it’s a medical condition, often linked to serious illnesses like cancer, chronic infections, advanced heart failure, or late-stage COPD.
It comes from the Greek kakos (“bad”) + hexis (“condition” or “state”) — literally “bad condition.”
He’s very ill. The doctor gave him a letter for his bowel consultant. And he told mom to ring the doctors secretary to see if he can be fast tracked in to see the doctor.
Mom rang, and the secretary said that he’s scheduled for a colonoscopy on September 8th, but it might happen sooner, if there is an opening.
He will probably have to be kept in hospital if things keep getting worse.
It is extremely worrying.

Talk to me! I love comments!
