Each ring is more than just a sound,
It’s hope that waits to be unbound.
A gentle “hello” through the wire,
Can stir a soul, can light a fire.
I volunteer with heart in hand,
No need for glory, no demand.
Just me, a voice, and time to spare,
To show a stranger someone cares.
Their stories drift through silent space,
Of younger days, a lover’s face,
Of gardens grown, of dreams once chased—
In every word, a life embraced.
Some calls are short, some linger long,
Some hum with laughter, some with song.
But even tears have softened grace
When kindness meets them face to face.
No need for praise or grand parade,
The joy is in the peace we’ve made.
Two lives that meet, though worlds apart,
And find connection, heart to heart.
So when the evening settles in,
And quiet falls where words have been,
I smile to know I’ve played my part—
A borrowed voice, a borrowed heart.

Talk to me! I love comments!
