The not perfect holiday

A big thanks to Di for hosting!

Our words are holiday, punch, tantrum.

Three Things Challenge #MM47 | pensitivity101

Mia had dreamed of the perfect holiday—sunny beaches, quiet mornings, and fresh fruit under palm trees. But her toddler, Leo, had other plans.

By the second day, Leo launched into a full-blown tantrum because his pineapple juice came with ice. Tourists stared as Mia, sunburnt and exhausted, tried reasoning with a three-year-old philosopher obsessed with "warm juice only."

Later that afternoon, she finally got ten minutes of peace. Sitting by the pool, she sipped a tropical punch and watched Leo nap, arms spread like a tiny starfish.

It wasn’t the peaceful escape she had imagined, but in the chaos, there was something beautifully raw.

That night, Leo woke up, crawled into her bed, and whispered, “I had fun today.”

Mia smiled in the dark.

Maybe this holiday wasn’t perfect.

But it was real—and hers.

And somehow, that was better.

Even with the tantrums.
