Thanks goes out to Missy for the challenge! Here is my take!
Missy’s MAD Challenge # 024 – M.A.D. Works
You wear your light like armor, proud—
But even stars collapse in cloud.
I’ve watched you rise with empty cheer,
Each step a drumbeat I still hear.
You think the world bends to your name,
As if your breath alone makes flame.
But I remember where you bled—
The cracks beneath your crown of lead.
You smile like truth, but lie like steel,
You preach of love you do not feel.
I’ve seen you break what dared to grow,
Then dance atop the wreck below.
Don’t call it envy—no, not quite—
It’s something colder than your light.
It’s every time you shut the door,
And laughed while I scratched at the floor.
I am the shadow on your heel,
The scar your victories conceal.
You’ll hear me whisper in the cheers,
I’ll be the salt within your tears.
I don’t need vengeance, not your end—
I’ll thrive in rot you can’t defend.
Because beneath that golden wall…
You’re just afraid to lose it all.
