FOWC With Fandango — Hazy – Facts, Fictions & Fantasies
They come like lightning through the fog,
sudden and sharp—those fragments lost,
a door that creaks, a whisper’s drag,
a shadow thrown, a moment’s cost.
The past was buried under dust,
soft layers of forgetful time,
but now it breaks with every gust,
in shattered frames and cryptic rhyme.
A child’s laugh behind a wall,
then silence—thick, and deep, and wide.
A photo blurred, a nameless call,
a song half-hummed, I cannot hide.
The scent of rain on summer dirt,
a screen door slams, a siren moans,
and in my chest, a phantom hurt
cracks open long-abandoned bones.
What did I lose, or dare to lose?
The memories won’t name their price.
They flicker, vanish, then infuse
my waking hours with cold, precise—
unease. Not fear, not quite regret,
but something raw, without a name.
A distant scream. A cigarette.
A figure I won’t dare to claim.
If I could choose, I’d let them go,
these stuttering reels, this pulsing haze.
But they return—they always show—
like ghosts that crawl through fractured days.
And in their wake, I stand and sift
through pieces I can’t quite connect,
each flash a jolt, a violent gift,
a puzzle I can’t recollect.
