Today our prompt if we choose to accept it is to write a poem about cleaning up after our pets, humans, whoever, as it is national pooper scooper week!
Here is my effort at today’s prompt!
😃
I don’t have a pet now, but when I did, he’d run through my house every day like a whirlwind. Here is my poem in honour of my dog, Nitro.
😊
In the quiet dawn, the house lay still,
But soon would burst with chaos and thrill.
My furry friend, so wild and free,
Turned the home into a stormy sea.
With paws that pitter and patter and race,
They dashed through each and every space.
The kitchen floor, the living room,
All fell victim to their playful boom.
A trail of fur like fallen leaves,
Discarded toys beneath the eaves.
The sofa cushions tossed askew,
A half-chewed slipper, once so new.
Yet amidst this whirlwind of delight,
I find myself in endless plight.
With broom and mop, I chase their trail,
In a never-ending, Sisyphean tale.
But oh, the joy that fills their eyes,
The bounding leaps, the playful cries.
So though I sweep and scrub and mend,
I wouldn’t trade my whirlwind friend.
For in their mischief, love is found,
A bond so pure, it knows no bound.
So let them run and let them play,
I’ll clean their messes, come what may.
In the end, it’s all worthwhile,
For a happy heart and a loving smile.
With every sweep, I find my peace,
In the whirlwind’s wake, my love’s release.

Talk to me! I love comments!
