Therapy Bits

So my parents have been without heating since Sunday.

Mom rang the gas company yesterday, and basically she got a runaround, one person told her it would be March 25th before they could send someone out to service her boiler.

Then she tried to ring around a few other registered gas boiler installers. But none of them were answering their phones.

So in the end she rang the gas company back, and this time the lady on the phone said she’d need to pay 270 euro with her visa card.

Mom does not really use her visa card, but she has one. She asked if there were any other options for paying, and she was told no.

So today she got a taxi into town, and she went to the bank, lodged the money, and she also bought a heater so that there would be some heat in the house.

Then, when she got back home, she rang the gas company back, to schedule an appointment.

The lady said, I don’t know who told you that you needed to pay with your card, but you don’t.

She also said she could have someone out to service the boiler next Monday morning, between 8 and 12 PM.

So mom did all of that running around for nothing, as the lady on the phone said she’d be sending out a bill to mom after the work was completed.

Still, at least she got a heater to keep warm.

I’m glad she’ll have heat soon, and glad that in the meantime, the electric heater that she bought will keep them warm.
