My dad is not very well at all. Mentally he’s really struggling. Physically he is too, but he is not coping with being in the hospital. He can’t handle the fact that his bowel disease has worsened, to the point that he can no longer control it.
Mom rang the desk, and the nurses said he isn’t sleeping, and he’s really agitated, so they’ve put him on Librium to calm him down and relax him.
He’s very angry, and he keeps saying “I wish I was out of here”. I get it. No one likes being in the hospital, but it isn’t just his ulcerative colitis that is the problem, it is his fractured spine, his osteoporosis, his legs and his lungs are full of fluid. He’s in a right state.
He never asks questions, so we don’t know what is going on. We don’t know what the doctors have said to him. The nurse told mom that they came to see him this morning. We are not sure if they told him something, and if it was bad news.
Mom asked the nurse to get a doctor from his team to phone her. Hopefully they will today.
She rang dad earlier and he told her not to phone him again, that he’d call her when he was ready, and she said it sounded as if he was crying.
I think he’s having a mental breakdown.
It is so stressful. If he’d just listen to reason, and stay put, until he’s feeling better, he’s deteriorating more and more every day.
Please send prayers for our family guys. Thank you!
