Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Pretend – Moonwashed Musings
In the quiet of a sunlit afternoon,
we gather scattered dreams,
like fallen leaves, each a whisper
of warmth, a reminder of summer’s
golden breath.
We pretend, weaving stories
that flutter like paper cranes,
dancing in the breeze,
their fragile wings
brush against the truth,
and for a moment, the heart swells
with colors unseen,
like petals unfurling
beneath a trusting sky.
In the garden of "what if,"
we plant our hopes,
tending to the soil of imagination,
where shadows dance beneath the shade,
and laughter lingers,
echoes of a world unspoiled
by the weight of knowing.
Let us pretend we are astronauts,
floating among stars,
unfazed by gravity’s pull,
charting constellations that spell out
the names of abandoned dreams.
Or perhaps we are children,
with unmarked canvases,
painting futures with splashes of joy,
coloring outside the lines
of expectation.
In our pretense,
we find refuge,
a tapestry woven
with threads of possibility,
where vulnerability blooms
like wildflowers in concrete cracks,
and every sigh drifts
towards a sky that holds us
in its gentle, forgiving embrace.
So let us pretend,
in this sanctuary we create,
that the world is a soft place,
where cynicism has no voice,
and love lingers like honey,
sweet, viscous,
binding the fragments
of who we are,
who we dream to be.
