Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fork.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!
The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 5, 2024 | (lindaghill.com)
In the bustling streets of old New York,
Lived a quirky fellow named Louie, the dork.
He’d strut down the avenues, all dressed up nice,
With a twinkle in his eye and a penchant for spice.
Now Louie loved food, as most people do,
From bagels to pizza, he gobbled in two.
But here’s the odd twist that makes for a joke:
He ate all his meals with a shiny, bright fork!
At breakfast, he’d battle his eggs and his toast,
While diners around him would stare and would boast.
“Why use a fork?” they’d question with glee,
“No knife, no spoon? What’s wrong with thee?”
But Louie just laughed, with a grin ear to ear,
“I use this fine fork, ‘cause I’ve no time for fear!
A spoon is too messy, a knife is too mean,
This fork’s got finesse, if you know what I mean!”
At lunch, he’d devour a pastrami on rye,
With pickles and mustard stacked oh so high.
He’d spear the whole sandwich with a flourish and twirl,
While onlookers gasped, “Is he trying to hurl?”
When dinner rolled ’round, he’d feast like a king,
Spaghetti and meatballs? Oh, what a fling!
He’d twirl on his fork with a dance and some flair,
While folks in the corner just gawked in despair.
As the years rolled by, Louie gained quite a fame,
"The Fork Guy of New York!" became his proud name.
They made him a sign in a diner downtown,
“Come here for good food, and a fork-headed clown!”
So if you’re in New York and you hear laughter loud,
Look for dear Louie, so bold and so proud.
With a gleaming fork held high, his food he’ll devour,
A legend of manners, an eater of power!
