Missy’s MAD Challenge # 055 – M.A.D. Works

The challenge phrase this week is “A party was in full swing until the music stopped”

Ok then, here is my offering!

A party was in full swing until the music stopped. Laughter hung in the air like glitter, drinks half-raised, when the silence spread through the room like a crack in glass. At first, people chuckled, expecting the DJ to fumble back to life, but the lights flickered, and a hush followed.

From the far corner, the old grandfather clock struck midnight, though it hadn’t worked in years. Its chime was hollow, unsettling, too loud for a broken thing. Then came the knock—three sharp raps on the door that no one remembered opening.

A girl in a crimson dress, face pale as porcelain, stood in the threshold. She said nothing, only raised her hand, pointing toward the center of the room. Everyone turned. The host’s glass shattered on the floor as he realized she was pointing at him.

The silence deepened. The party was over.
