I’ve just recently been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 (in fact, it’s been less than a month). I’ve been struggling with the diagnosis as such (I thought I ate more healthy than not and also moved enough but possibly genes are stronger than what I expected) but also with all the medication and controls. It bothers me that my sugar levels seem to be more coincidental than being influenced by what I eat or do. I’m sure this will settle down with time and your piece gave me hope that it will do so. Hopefully sooner than later.

I hope so for you! It takes a little time, but it will settle eventually!

Thank you. I just came home from the specialist and now I feel like a “patient” who has to be “managed”. Not the best feeling but I hope that it/I will settle down.

Are you on meds, or insulin? It will settle down in time!

Meds – and the doctor today changed them. We will see. I’m obviously an awkward patient as I have been mostly healthy all my life…

I just got a Dexcom 7 yesterday, so I don’t have to stick my fingers anymore.

Are you on insulin? I want a dexcom so bad! I’m going to try to ask my doctor or diabetes nurse about it!

I take injectable pens and pills. I have only been wearing it for 3 days and it is almost like I don’t even feel it on me. I asked my doctor if she would prescribe one for me and Medicare covers it, but I still have to pay about $35 a month. My doctor said it would be good for me because she is worried about me becoming hypoglycemic.

I’m glad you’re not finding it too difficult. My late husband had diabetes, he wasn’t very good at controlling it.
