This is a picture of houses after an earthquake in San Francisco

“Mom, mom”, lily said in a panic.

“Our house is flattened!“

“What are we going to do?”

Her mom was crying, but she did not want her daughter to see her cry.

She wiped her eyes, and tried to smile.

“We must be brave, Lily”, she said.

We may have lost our home in this earthquake, but we are fighters, we are strong. Someone will help us.

Her mom took her daughters hand, squeezed it tight, and said in a voice that only a mom uses…

“Mom’s know best”, then she hugged her daughter a little tighter.

Poor things! I can’t even imagine losing a home but for a child it has got to be so much worse. That is usually all they know!
