#SoCs-alexa

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: close eyes and point. When youre ready to write your post, open a book, a newspaper, or whatever is handy and close your eyes and point. Whatever word or picture your finger lands on, make that the basis of your SoCS/JusJoJan post. Enjoy!

***********

I did it a little differently. I cant see a newspaper or book to point at a word, so I closed my eyes and put my hand on the first thing I felt. That was my alexa!

Alexa! She’s really great, but the fact she’s always listening to me, thats kinda unnerving!

As a blind person though I find her to be awesome!

Plus I like that you can play games too like jeperdy and trivia games. One of my favourites is name that song!

I like that I can ask her for recipes, or to convert weights or measurements for me.

Plus just asking her random questions is fun! She almost always has the answer!

I actually own 2 alexas, one is an echo dot, thats in my bedroom, the other is an echo show, and thats in my living room.

The difference is the echo show has a video camera on it. And a screen, and its bigger than the echo dot.

Plus if you’ve got amazon prime, you can link your tv to the echo show!

Do any of you have an echo device? If you do what do you think of it?

I’ve got three of these devices at home now, and I use them more and more.
As regards it listening to you, what possible value can anybody derive from hearing you turn a light on or off? You know, how much of your conversation, even at home, is confidential? I am reassured that they collect such a massive volume of trivial information, there is no way they are able to sift out the juicy bits.

That’s true, I didn’t think of it in that way 💕

There will perhaps come a time when somebody could commit fraud, if they record enough of your voice that they can sound like you, but I reckon that is a way off, plus even that has limited value. By the way, “hey Google, tell me a joke” always causes a groan. I’m sure Alexa must be programmed to respond to that, too.

This is the joke she told me when I just asked her, how do you count a sharks teeth? Not by hand 😆💖💖

I am thinking about getting an Alexa. I am leaning toward the Echo Show model and I will probably get one if I get another stimulus check.

I love my echo show, they’re really good and you can even watch Amazon Prime on them so you can use it for that also listening to music if you have Amazon music or Spotify I think you can pair Apple Music to but I’m not sure on that

I’m the same — I have an echo in the family room and one in my bathroom and love the convenience of being able to ask for the news or the weather. I also like listening to podcasts while I’m cooking dinner.
