A little girl, my story

In childhood’s innocence, a little girl

Abused and neglected, her hope lost

Alone and afraid, her mind in a whirl

Through the darkness, she began to unfurl

A survivor of the pain and the cost

In childhood’s innocence, a little girl

Her mental health suffered, her mind in a swirl

PTSD haunting her, memories tossed

Alone and afraid, her mind in a whirl

But slowly, she found a way to twirl

Towards healing, towards a future embossed

In childhood’s innocence, a little girl

Finding strength in her own inner pearl

She learned to cope, her past defrosted

Alone and afraid, her mind in a whirl

Now she stands tall, a survivor unfurled

No longer defined by what she has lost

In childhood’s innocence, a little girl

Alone and afraid, her mind in a whirl

Written in response to today’s word of the day, which was the word neglected.
