It was a contest like no other. I was 17. And we had entered a contest with the local youth club, called, tops of the clubs.
The youth club entered each year, but this was my first year participating.
We had to put on a show which lasted a half hour. The show had to include commedy, singing, dancing etc. A variety show.
On the night we were all super excited. We had a lot of fun putting on our show. For my part, I sant the words to the riverdance song while some of the group did irish dancing to the riverdance tune.
At the end of the night, we waited with baited breath for the results. And when they said we’d won, a huge cheer went up.
We did it. We won. Out of 50 youth clubs, we’d become the champions. We were ecstatic.
