Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?
All are welcome! Just add your link to the Linky-List, and be sure to visit others and join in their conversations! The link will be open from Friday February 8th at 7am (Pacific Time) until Monday February 11th at 7am (Pacific Time) to give us a good range of “weekend”!
How was your weekend?
Mine was ok. It was very quiet and chilled out. I didn’t do much on Saturday.
I read a lot. As I think I mentioned I’m reading one child by torey hayden. I am loving it. It is a really good read!
I have therapy tomorrow morning. Well this morning now as its 4 AM here now on Monday morning. I hope I’ll have a good therapy session. I’m a little anxious about it.
Weather today is supposed to be good I think. I hope it stays dry. We’re not getting a whole lot of cold lately. We got some rain this weekend and wind though.
Well, I had better drink my coffee before it goes cold!
Happy weekend to you all! I hope you had fun whatever you did!
Just watched the most amazing movie. Its a true story, based on Torey Haydens book beautiful child. The childs name in the movie and book is different though, in the book she’s named sheila, in the movie she’s named caitlinn.
Caitlinn is six years old and has been neglected and abused all of her life. The movie starts off with Caitlinn having set fire to another little boy. The courts are trying to decide what to do with her. They are leaning towards sending her to the state hospital. Then Maggie, the teacher of the special ED class is asked to take her in her class. At first she doesnt want to, she is scared and worried for the other kids.
When Caitlinn comes to maggie she has violent outbursts. She is almost unreachable. But maggie doesnt give up trying to reach her. She shows her love and kindness and care and eventually she gets through to her. Caitlinn becomes very attached to maggie. There is a scene in the movie where Maggie is telling her a story about a lion and a little girl taming each other. Its such a poignant scene and it made me cry. I highly recommend the movie for those of you who like true stories or stories about real life children who overcame the odds.
Caitlinn doesnt end up going to the state hospital, Maggie fights to keep her in school and she wins the appeal. During the movie Maggie goes through her own struggles, she is dating a man and he wants to marry her and be with her but she is scared and keeps shutting him out. At the end caitlinn says to her, I tamed you too, and its true, she did.
If you havent seen this movie its a must see and a real tear jerker so bring some tissues.
