Sitting on the front porch.
mary and sean were sitting on the front porch drinking coffee, and putting the world to rights.
What a glorious day it is, said mary!
Yes, about time it warmed up, sean mused.
They had coffee almost every day, and they would sit and chat about all sorts of things, about their days, their lives, the news, anything that took their fancy!
Today Sean was happily listening to mary chattering on about her new kittens!
That was until…until the sky turned black, and clouds started to form…
Oh no, sean cried! There’s a storm acommin!
Quick, mary shrieked, lets get inside!
So leaving all talk of cats aside, they rushed indoors, and just in time!
It began to bucket down just then!
Today’s sentence: “Can I have a word with you?”
Can I have a word with you, sarah? The teacher said very matter of factly. But sarah knew it was trouble, she was going to be in serious trouble.
She had that feeling, the feeling of dread, as she walked to her teachers desk.
Yes? Miss? She tentatively said?
Sit down, sarah…her teacher said.
Sarah sat down heavily and waited, she waited, and waited some more.
Finally her teacher opened her desk drawer and took out a framed photo.
Here you go sara…this is for you.
I wanted to give you this photo to remember your class. Sarah burst into tears. Tears of relief.
She’d almost forgotten that she was leaving this school and her class behind, to move to america.
Have safe travels Sarah, and remember what I taught you about america! There will be a lot to learn once you move!
I will, miss, sarah beamed! And thank you, thank you for being the best teacher in the world!
Its alive! Omg its alive!
Ria screamed in alarm! What? Her dad said rushing into the kitchen.
There on the work surface there was a huge and very creepy looking spider!
Ria was deathly afraid of spiders!
Dad, she screamed! Do something!
Her dad calmly got a tea towel and went to pick up the spider.
Your going to pick him up? She gasped?
Yes of course, her dad exclaimed! Why not? I am going to put him outside!
Very gingerly her dad went to the back door, spider in hand, opened it and put him out!
Now, there we go! All done!
Ria breathed a sigh of relief! Now she could get bac to making breakfast.
First though she’d have to thoroughly wash down the work surface just in case there were spider germs on it! Wouldnt want those, she thought.
So much for a nice start to her day!
You should bring something into the world that wasn’t in the world before. It doesn’t matter what that is. It doesn’t matter if it’s a table or a film or gardening — everyone should create. You should do something, then sit back and say, ‘I did that.’
