friendly call got nominated for an award!

I am at work, and I just found out this afternoon that friendly call was nominated for a national award, yippee. Its a huge thing. The national awards are huge. People from all over ireland will be there. Different organisations that work with the elderly. Our organisation is small, so its a huge achievement to have been nominated. The awards ceremony is in november. It takes place in dublin, on the 14th of november. My supervisor asked all of the volunteers if they wanted to go. She said that our hotel accomodation would be payed for. I said I was definitely interested in going. It will be a fantastic night. If we win it will be even better lol. But to be nominated at all was huge. We’re all thrilled. I’ll keep you all posted on how things progress and if we win I’ll let you all know. Fingers crossed for us guys!

Questions from Sophie:

1.) What made you take the leap and start your blog?

I started blogging in 2012. I wanted to raise awareness of dissociative identity disorder, and mental illness in general, my blog took off from there.

2.) Are you aiming to progress your blog into a full time job or keep it as a hobby?

I just want to keep it as a hobby. I am definitely not looking to make big bucks from it.

3.) What are your favourite kind of blog posts to read?

My favourite is generally anything mental health-related.

4.) What are your favourite kind of blog posts to write?

Mental health related posts, or life updates.

5.) Do you feel your blogging experience has impacted you positively? Why/why not?

Definitely. It provides a sense of community that I wouldn’t be able to access any other way, and it’s something productive to devote my time to.

6.) Are the people in your life (outside of the blogging community) supportive of your blog?

Most of them dont know I have a blog. I prefer to keep it like that too.

7.) What advice would you give to fellow bloggers who are just starting out?

Be real. Be honest. Be you.

8.) If you could go back to when you first began your blog, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

The same as in the previous question.

9.) What is your top tip for growing a blog?

Engage with other bloggers, post to your social media if you have facebook, twitter etc.

10.) How many blog posts do you post a week? Do you try to stick to a schedule or just post when you feel like it? I’ve been posting daily for most of the time I’ve had my blog. Some days I post 1 or 2 posts, on other days I post more. It really all depends. I schedule some posts, sometimes. If I am busy or have things I need to say that I may forget to write about, when I think of them I schedule the posts ahead of time.

I nominate anyone who wants to play along to answer these questions!

Have fun!

• Nominate 10-15 other bloggers for this award, and inform them of their nomination. list end

Ok so how did my blog start?

Well, I have been blogging since 2012. I had an old blog, which I revamped in 2015. I wanted to raise awareness of dissociative identity disorder, and blog about the process of going through psychotherapy. Over the years I broadened it to include all aspects of my life. I called the blog therapy bits initially since it was to do with my therapy and mental illness diagnosis, I love blogging, and have gotten a ton of support from all of you wonderful people on wordpress! Thank you!

My advice to other bloggers would be:

1. Be honest, and real! People prefer honesty and realness!

2. Try not to focus too much on the blog numbers! Its hard not to focus on stats, but if you focus too much on them, you might get disheartened and give up!

I nominate the following bloggers!

All of you wonderful bloggers deserve this award! Enjoy it and have fun and I just want to say I love your blog!

Liebster Guide Lines

Add the logo of the award to your post and a link to the creator of this blog award – The Global Aussie: The Official Rules of the Liebster Award 2019

Write a paragraph about what motivates you in life (not just in blogging).

Answer the 5 questions given to you.

Gift 3 blogs that you feel would enjoy receiving the award.

Create 5 questions for those you have gifted the Liebster Award to.

What motivates me? My family, my dog, I like to try to be positive if I can! I believe being positive is the way to go! My family have always taught me to stay strong! Be brave! Be independent! As a blind person this is a very good thing for them to teach me as I have made my own way in life and navigated life pretty successfully I’d say!

And now I shall attempt to answer the 5 questions Rory has set for me!

Why do we enjoy asking questions that we know may not have an answer because of the very nature of a person’s free will and both opinion and belief?

I think we enjoy it because we like to see what is that person going to say to this or that question that I pose, we like to see what their responses will be, its our curiosity it gets the better of us!

Why are so many people keen to believe in something rather than nothing? In so far as is it easier to believe in a God, or life after death or whatever because to not have anything to believe in, means that once we are dead there is absolutely nothing?

Hmm not sure, but if I had to guess I'd say yes thats absolutely it! If we dont believe in certain things then what do we do? Where or who do we turn to?

Do we really have free will or is it purely an illusion we have created to think we are our own people?

We all have free will! That is my belief!

What decisions or actions have you made in your life that have had the longest reaching impact and consequence on your life?

My decision to go to college, was a major one! My decision to get a guide dog was another! Also my decision to write! Start a blog! It has changed my life for the better!

What would happen if it was proved beyond a shadow of doubt that God did not exist, but life in an extra terrestrial form did?

I think we'd all run for the hills! Aliens on earth? Wow! A scary thought!

And now my 5 questions to my nominees?

1. If you could live for eternity, would you want to?

2. If you had a whole week to yourself, what would you do with your time?

3. What is your biggest fear?

4. What irks you the most?

5. Are you a morning person or a night owl?

And my 3 nominees are…

A single parents life

Nova of novas namaste

Iggie of color me bipolar
