D-verse poetics! These eyes are the windows into my soul!

If you look into my eyes

The windows into my soul

What will you see?

You’ll see sadness, and pain

But also happiness and joy

You’ll see fear, sometimes

Regret at times

Yes, these windows

Sometimes, they need a good cleaning

Most times

The pain and sadness win

They are what show in my eyes most often

After a lifetime of abuse

I am worn out

And worn down

I am ready to give up

But somehow

I never do.

I keep on fighting the good fight

But…

On days like today

My birth day

I am reminded

That there is joy and happiness to be found

If I just look for it

Look around

It is there

Peeking through

If I let it into my soul

I will feel whole.
