So my mom had to call a plumber today.
Her taps on her kitchen sink broke.
The plumber came out, and he said he could no longer get the fitting for the ones that were already there on her sink.
So he’ll have to buy new taps for the sink!
That could be 100 euro or more for the two taps!
Then another 80 euro to fit them!
It was certainly not an expense mom needed to pay out this easter!
But now she has to pay it out, but the plumber can’t come back until Tuesday at the earliest.
Everywhere is closed tomorrow due to it being easter, , and Monday is a bank holiday here, so all those kind of stores are closed then also.
In the meantime, the water is constantly running, and we can’t turn the tap off!
It is very annoying!
Every time I’m in the kitchen listening to it, I have the urge to pee!
Lol!
And, the plumber did not show up tonight until after 8 PM!
I hid upstairs in the bedroom when he came, because I was in my Pajamas!
Lol!
Ugh. No fun!

Yuck! Don’t taps have shut-off valves there? Almost all taps (we more often call them faucets) here have shut-off valves for this reason, and to make it easier to install new ones. The only place I lived that didn’t have shut-off valves was the mobile home I got when I first moved out of my parent’s house. When I put in new taps, I added shut-off valves. It must be very unpleasant, plus I bet it leads to a high water bill.

No, unfortunately the taps don’t have shut off valves and yes, it leads to a very high water bill

That’s awful, surely the large DIY stores will be open on Easter Monday if not Saturday. … Would it help to turn the water off completely and turn it back on when it’s needed? …there must be emergency plumbers… Though I know they are expensive. Hopefully it gets fixed soon 💜

I am not sure but he said the earliest he could do the job was Tuesday! ❤

How awful, and of course it has to happen over a holiday weekend. Hope it gets fixed soon.
I know how added unexpected expenses are. The high winds here the other day blew down part of our back fence, so now there’s a big gap. It will have to be replaced, and the estimates so far are real expensive. Ugh! 🙂

Sorry to hear that Barbara!
That sucks!

We have isolators on our taps, so can turn it off there rather than at the mains. Hope you don’t get a horrendous water bill as well.

I know, that’s all we need is a horrendous water bill

Sometimes they make concessions if you have a leak, but it depends on the circumstances I think. Always worth asking if it’s really high. The worse they’ll say is No.

Yeah, we can ask, they can only say no
