  1. I’ve worked in psychiatry for over 30 years and used to wonder why the abusers were not the ones full of self-hatred for what they have done. I learned that some people are not only mad and bad but some are downright evil. I recall talking to a woman who suffered extreme sexual abuse as a child, she was one of the happiest people I ever met. I asked her why she wasn’t a mess. She said she forgave the abuser. I got angry and said “He doesn’t deserve forgiveness”. She told me she didn’t do it for him, she did it for herself. She is no longer cutting her wrists. She no longer hates herself or her abuser. Forgive him for your own sake and you will have peace. He will face his judgement like the rest of us. God bless you.
