Living with PTSD

A week

Of mourning

Sadness

and tears

Listing emotions

Revisiting fears

Inside ptsd

It’s a place

You never want to wander

Flashbacks

Unorganised

Becomes like a career

It’s life changing

Life limiting

But we don’t discuss this

Ptsd is like living

With an extra organ or limb

That doesn’t function doesn’t work

It’s irrational and lonely

And touch is hard to accept

But I am also dying for you to hold me

Trust

Is too

Something ptsd controls

Who do you go to?

Where can you talk?

And

When you are sad

Sometimes it’s a relief

Because it’s better

Than a flare up

From ptsd.

  1. You come here. We listen. We hear you. We grab you and force you into a bear hug without ever once touching you when you can’t bear it. We are here, there is safety in numbers, and you found a puppy pile of folks. So, you come here. So do we. Together, we walk this treacherous path called mental illness.
