A lot of smells trigger memories for me.
The smell of certain perfumes, certain foods and certain household items makes me think of memories from my past.
The smell of bacon cooking always makes me think of my parents. They like to eat bacon for breakfast.
Similarly, the smell of a certain perfume that I can’t spell the name of, but I know it is by Lancôme, makes me think of my psychiatrist Dr. Barry.
She always wears it!
The smell of white Musk perfume always makes me think of my PA Frances, that is what she wears.
I love the scent of cut grass, it makes me think of summer.
Taste is also important to me as is touch.
If I had to pick which of my senses triggers the most memories for me I think I’d definitely choose smell.
The smell of apple pie baking always reminds me of childhood, when my mom would make them for dessert on the weekends.
Certain scented candles remind me of my therapist Eileen, as does the scent of rose, as she wears rose scented perfume.
So then I bought myself rose scented shower gel, body lotion, and essential oil for my defuse.
Smell is a powerful thing, Imo!
A love, nostalgic post Carol.
