In preparation for night

I stand at the front door

Watching the ever present gloam

It’s getting darker now

Night is coming

All the night time sounds will begin shortly

I stand here

Waiting, and watching

In wonderment

As the skies turn

From day to night

And I too

Start to prepare

Wind down

Going back indoors

Locking the door behind me

Shutting out the world

Just me and my dog now.
