I am a little scared.
My blood sugar is running very high.
I’ve been really thirsty this weekend, but I forgot to bring my glucometer to my parents’ house so I couldn’t test my sugars.
I tested it when I got home today, and it was 23.3, that is 420.
Now I just tested again and its 26.3, that is 473.
I have to bring it down! Any ideas what will bring it down?
I’m freaking out!

I thought exercise helped. Walk on the treadmill for a while…

Did that, no joy I didn’t come back down

When your sugar is over 300 exercise is a bad thing. I don’t remember the logistics but I’ve been told by Dr’s and fellow diabetics that it’s bad to exercise at that level because it can RAISE your sugar.

Eat some peanut butter, as I heard that can lower your blood sugar.

I did it when my blood sugar was high, and it helped me.

I’m glad to read in later posts that it’s coming down. Once my blood sugar did this, they had to switch my diabetic meds, the old ones just pooped out on me. That was at least 10 years ago, and so far the blood sugar has been fine since the med change. Keep us updated after you have your appointment!

It came down a lot, well a good bit anyway, it’s 15 now down from 26 that’s in European numbers but still a bit high I know but maybe this morning it’ll keep coming down. I write an update in a little bit

I’m a type I diabetic. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat only protein. No man made sugar or white flour. They both turn instantly into sugar in your blood system. Stay away from milk too. There are a lot of sugars in that as well. I find meats and Cheese to be good. Once it comes down and it may take awhile, write me (ceeneuner@me.com) and I can give you some tips if you want.
Also try to stay calm and rested. Emotional and Mental tiredness and anxiety can cause your blood sugar to go up to.

Yes, I heard that stress and being very tired or emotional can cause it to go up, I rested a lot yesterday and I think that helped

Glad things are sorting themselves out. My diabetes is controlled by diet and my sugars pretty good, but they record them differently here. Mine is round 4.

They record them the same here in Ireland. Mine is usually around 10 which is good for me since my diabetes is controlled by medication but last night I mean Monday night it went up to 26 which is really bad.

Hope a registered dietitian can help you plan meals. Maybe the food is rich and sweets are readily available when you’re getting pampered over the weekend?

No, I didn’t eat much sweets, are all over the weekend only two cookies. That was all I ate.

Hm, I wonder if it was from carbohydrates. Do you have a dietician on your team?

No, no dietician, probably I did have too many carbs though 🌹🤗
